Storms of Life

Matthew 7:24-27 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: (25) And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. (26) And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: (27) And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Jesus tells us a few extremely important truths in this short passage.  The first:  Life WILL have storms!  Not just sprinkles, not just heavy showers but storms.  Flood causing, wind destroying STORMS. There is no getting around it.  No one is immune.  The question is:  Are you prepared for them?  Jesus said that the ONLY way to be prepared is to have your life built on the right foundation.  What is that foundation?  To hear the words of Jesus and Do them!  Learning about life from Jesus is like asking Michael Jordan about how to be a better basketball player.  Jesus knows because he is our creator.  But even more than that, he experienced our life and was the only one that was perfect at it.  The Bible tells us that he was tempted in every aspect of life and yet was still sinless.  Therefore Jesus is the expert!
